Reminds me of a story my mom tells of when she was a resident at Bellevue hospital on Manhattan. She saw a rat running down the hall and called the janitor. He told her, “A w lady, just hit it with a broom!”

This was when Bellevue was, even then,   an old building and the teaching hospital for Cornell, C olumbia, and NYU, I think, all at once. From my parent’s stories, things were a bit crazy at times .
